We are a product design lab specializing in connected experiences.
Ordo Ab Chao
[or-doh/ ab/ kay-oh] is a Latin expression meaning ‘Order from Chaos’ and references our creative process of translating complex ideas into tangible solutions that simulate human behavior, emotions, and attitudes towards objects. Ordo Ab Chao is a full-service product development and experiential design firm. Our mission is to create connected product experiences and immersive environments for entrepreneurs that get their brands noticed; merging the physical and digital worlds in new and creative ways from concept to completion.
At Ordo Ab Chao design we are dedicated to creating breathtaking products and conceptually driven environments people love.
Our design process begins with your idea.
Concept Design
Exploration: In this stage, we explore multiple design paths that are visually explained with hand sketches and renderings. Each different design will convey varying aesthetics, configurations, mechanisms, ergonomics, and materials that will be considered, explored and explained. The first concept design is usually exactly what the client is asking for, the remaining concepts are open to our creativity and exploration process.
3D CAD Design: Once the final sketched design is approved we will start creating the product in a 3D computer-aided design software (i.e. Inventor, Solidworks, Creo). This file will be created with all the features needed for production such as bosses, mounting holes, snap-fits, draft angles, etc. The file can then be used for prototyping and creating photo-realistic renderings and images for marketing presentations and crowdfunding campaigns.
Prototyping: Once the final CAD design is approved we use 3D-printing, CNC machines, cut and sew creation, etc. to produce a prototype of your product. Whatever capabilities we do not have in-house we hold long term relationships with manufacturing partners that allow us to prototype anything anywhere and for an extremely competitive price.
Product Development
Production Quotes: Now we have the details for any factory around the world to provide a quote. We proceed by sending these details to factories in regions you are most interested in manufacturing your product in. Regardless if overseas or domestic, we help advise the most economical and logical route based on your goals.
Investment Quotes: Once quotes have been received from multiple factories we provide a cost matrix to the client for review. This will break down the part cost based on how many units are ordered and tooling cost required so you can manufacture and start selling your product.
Sell Sheets: Photorealistic renderings explaining the product and its functionality are created bundled with any research uncovered during the initial stages, suggested price points, estimate production cost and other details for investors to review.
Contract Terms: We work with our licensing team to obtain the best contract possible for you. In return, we take a small percentage of the royalty negotiated.
3D Printing
Bring your ideas from mind to matter by taking full advantage of the capabilities of additive manufacturing and our on-demand 3D print-farm. Our goal is to help you manufacture parts using 3D printing with the best quality/price ratio.
Our user-centered design process yields successful results, every time.
At Ordo Ab Chao user-centered design (UCD) is a promising approach to developing new products. It begins with users and ends with results that are tailored to their individual needs. The aim of our user-centered design process is to ensure that the design of a product or service remains focused upon who will use it, in what context, and with what aim.
How does user-centered design work?
User-centered design is a repetitive process.
First, as designers working in teams, we try to understand the condition in which users may use a product. Then, we identify and specify the users’ needs. This is followed by a design phase, in which our design team develops solutions. The team then proceeds to an evaluation phase. Here, we assess the outcomes of the evaluation against the users’ condition and needs, to check how well a design is performing. More specifically, we learn how close it is to a level that matches the users’ specific context and satisfies all of their relevant needs. From here, our team makes further iterations of these four phases, and we continue until the evaluation results are satisfactory.
User-centered design considers the entire user experience.
